File System របស់ Ubuntu មានលក្ខណៈខុសគ្នាពីប្រតិបត្តិការផ្សេងៗ ដូច្នេះ ខ្ញុំបានសូមបង្ហាញពីដំណើរការរបស់ File System របស់ Ubuntu ដូចខាងក្រោមនេះ
/ គឺជាថត root នៃ file system និងគ្រប់ថតឯកសារទាំងអស់ដែលបាន mount
/root គឺជាថត Home នៃអ្នកប្រើប្រាស់មានសិទ្ធ Administration
/boot គឺជាថតសម្រាប់ផ្តុក System boot, Kernel និង boot loader
/home គឺជាថតសម្រាប់ផ្ទុក Profile users
/sbin គឺជាថតសម្រាប់ផ្ទុកនូវ administration commands ដែលប្រើដោយ super user
/bin គឺជាថតសម្រាប់ផ្ទុក Command line ដែលប្រើដោយ user user និង normal user
/var គឺជាថតសម្រាប់ផ្ទុក Variable file បើនៅក្នុង (window logfile) logfile ផ្តល់ Message ដល់ Admin tempory
/usr គឺជាថតសម្រាប់ផ្ទុក file ដែលពាក់ព័ន្ធនឹង user
/dev គឺជាថតសម្រាប់ផ្ទុក (ឧបករណ៍) device management
/etc គឺជាថតសម្រាប់ផ្ទុក Congratulation file
/proc គឺជាថតដែលបាន mount virtual information នៃដំណើរការប្រព័ន្ធ
/tmp គឺជាថតដែលផ្ទុក temporary file ដែលប្រើដោយប្រព័ន្ធ
/opt គឺជាថតដែលផ្ទុក third party នៃ remove media ដូចជា cd-rom, floppy disk និង pen drive
/lib គឺជាថតសម្រាប់ផ្ទុក Libray file
